This Thanksgiving go for a casual but elegant look to dress up your table this year! I am in love with the combination of bronzey brown and turquoise. I also fell in love with the Falling for Autumn Clip Art by Cupcake Cuties. I used elements from each of these sets to create various decorative items for a perfectly elegant but casual Thanksgiving tablescape.
To create this balanced mix of casual elegance, I used an oversized throw blanket as my table covering. Don’t limit yourself to the traditional ideas of linens! You can find the best use of patterns in old curtains, sheets, and blankets. Shop your local stores and use your imagination! I added a touch of elegance to each place setting by placing gold rimmed dishes on top of gold leaf chargers. Each place setting has a menu to let guests know what they will be dining on!
Since the throw cover was a bit bulky, adding a runner would create too much weight on the table. Instead I opted to create a simple centerpiece with two vases filled with decorative Eucalyptus, pumpkins and die cut leaves made using the digipaper.
I also carried the leaf theme over to the napkin rings and place cards. Assign each guest a place of their own at the table with a simple leaf cut name card.
A die cut leaf tied with a bit of raffia adds a casual element to an elegant damask cloth napkin.
The best part of every meal is dessert, of course! Create a simple backdrop for your dessert buffet for an eye-catching focal point. I used length of faux-bois print gift wrap and a decorative wreath to add dimension to the wall behind our sideboard.
A delicious whipped cream topped Sweet Potato Pie strategically placed in the center will draw all your guests in as well!
On the dessert table you can also add treat boxes and wrapped gifts for guests to take home with small tokens of appreciation as a way to say, ‘Thank You.’ Alternately, you can give a similar gift to a hostess if you’re invited to someone’s home this Thanksgiving. Raffia ribbon tied around basic cardboard boxes lend a casual feel while the beautiful patterns of the digipaper and some bling add a touch of elegance!
Be sure to have cards available for guests to write down what they are thankful for. Have guests read aloud after dinner and place in a keepsake box for lasting memories.
If you’re looking for a different dessert to provide your guests with try my Cranberry Smores!
