Sweet Mandy loves country and she loves Fall and so it was only appropriate to style a shower inspired by the season and serve it up with lots of home cookin’. As I designed this shower all the customary fall colors came to mind, burnt oranges, yellows, and browns…..however, it’s always important to me to personalize a design so I decided to throw in some blue since Mandy is expecting a boy. While blue doesn’t scream country or Fall, gingham does. So, I threw in a splash of navy blue gingham that I found in the Lemonade Stand Papers by Goodness & Fun. It worked perfectly with the autumn colors since it wasn’t a pastel or it wasn’t too bright, and I added it just enough to make a statement, but yet holding true to the autumn inspiration.
I used empty tin cans to hold the utensils. They had a country to feel to them and I was being green at the same time! They were also a good place to subtly add the navy gingham in. With all the browns in the display, they “popped” nicely.
Because the backdrop was going to be seen from both sides, I decided to create this stunning backdrop of felt pumpkin placemats. It is quite easy to create yourself and very inexpensive! I got these mats from a local dollar store. In order to hang them, I used two 3M hooks and some fishing line. I created a sort of “clothesline” by stringing fishing line between the two 3M hooks that I attached on the wall about the same distance apart as my food buffet. I then strung each pumpkin with various lengths of fishing line and attached each to the “clothesline” I already had up. Done and done!
Don’t these cupcakes look to die for?
To end the event, party hostess had yummy homemade caramel apples to cap her home cookin’ menu. I created custom tags for them and tied them to the cellophane bags with raffia.
